Solar Cuts are Foolish – Queensland Government

It is with great certainty and relief within the solar power industry in Queensland that the governments Energy Minister Stephen Robertson has accused other states of being “foolish and short sighted” for cutting payments to home owners who feed their solar electricity back to the grid.

It is great relief for many Queensland homeowners who are yet to take advantage of residential solar power.
In Queensland homeowners can still install up to 5kW of solar on the roof of their home, powering them to receive in some cases more than $4000 per year! Once the system is installed, this high feed in tariff will remain every year until 2028, which is currently 17 years!

The announcement comes on the back of most states across Australia removing the premium feed in tariff , or solar bonus scheme. Because of this there is a lowering demand in solar not only Australia, but across the world.
Many large solar only manufacturers have been hit hard and are closing shop. There have been 3 manufacturers in the United States close their doors in the last month and many other large European and Australian manufacturers profits have dropped to near catastrophic levels and have been shedding staff chronically.

Companies as diversified as Hyundai are still powering ahead. A spokesman for one of Hyundai’s Australian distributors says “Hyundai are a fantastic company, when many manufacturers are pulling back, Hyundai is powering on. The security with Hyundai lies in their diversity.” Unlike 99% of solar manufacturers Hyundai remain one of the most secure companies in the industry as they are not so relient on government rebates and high feed in tariffs to stay in business. “This means the quality of product and security in warranty is incredibly high and will remain this way”

The Energy Minister is encouraging more and more Queenslanders to invest in solar power for their homes. Why wait? As soon as your system is installed, it is paying for itself and paying you!
