BRISBANE SOLAR COMPANY FUTURE SUSTAINABILITY SIGNS MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR AGREEMENT WITH KOREAN GIANT - HYUNDAI

Quest Newspaper 18 May 2011

Brisbane-based Future Sustainability has signed a 5-megawatt solar supply agreement with Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries, one of the world’s largest diversified manufacturers.

The supply agreement is the equivalent of more than 3,300 of the popular 1.5kW systems commonly installed under the government’s solar incentive schemes and has an installed-value of more than $20 million.

The agreement allows Future Sustainability to distribute Hyundai solar panels to other solar companies around Australia as well as grow its residential & commercial solar business in South East Queensland.

Vice President of Hyundai Corporation, Mr Yangho Bae, said, “This deal was reflective of Hyundai and Future Sustainability’s continued cooperation and respected relationship.”

Chief General Manager for Hyundai’s Green Energy Division Mr James Kim said, “It was the family-like feel of Future Sustainability as a company that was immediately apparent in their initial dealings.”

Hyundai Heavy Industries is the largest heavy industries company in the world. In 2011 Hyundai aims to be the leading supplier of solar panels in the Australian market. Future Sustainability is a key part of achieving that aim acting as a distributor of Hyundai solar panels.

John Degotardi, a Director of Future Sustainability, was happy with the outcome of the supply deal saying, “Hyundai are an obvious choice for Future Sustainability. They offer Australian customers true accountability when it comes to a product like solar panels that have a 25-year warranty. Hyundai are unique in being a risk diversified manufacturer, no matter what happens in world demand for solar panels, Hyundai will be around to honour customers warranties.”

Mr Degotardi said Future Sustainability has mostly been a direct to market retailer but has now moved into full-scale distribution as a result of the consolidated relationship with Hyundai. Mr Degotardi went on to say, “Fundamentally the solar market in Australia is so large, as Australians only now start to embrace solar as their preferred electricity source, that the most critical things in my view are to provide education to the customer while providing them with secure purchasing decisions.”

Security in solar has been a catch cry championed by Future Sustainability for several years and this new supply arrangement and strengthened distribution relationship with Hyundai are positive signs for this progressive Brisbane based company.
